TRAINING IN ASBESTOS SURVEYING TECHNIQUES.
BOHS
Proficiency Certificate P402: BUILDING SURVEYS & BULK SAMPLING
A course to meet the training requirements of MDHS 100.
Employers and property owners will soon be required by law to ‘manage’
asbestos in premises to minimise the risk of exposure to workers and occupants.
This means that premises will have to be inspected or surveyed for the presence of asbestos.
The recent HSE publication MDHS 100 ‘Surveying, sampling and assessment of
asbestos-containing materials’ sets the criteria for asbestos surveys. One of
the requirements of MDHS 100 is that people carrying out surveys MUST be
suitably trained. The only course mentioned in MDHS 100 is the British Occupational
Hygiene Society’s Proficiency Certificate 402.
Following successful completion of this course attendees should be able to
effectively undertake an asbestos survey, collect bulk samples for analysis,
carry out a material assessment and produce information to assist the employer
formulate an asbestos management plan.
